Caleb Warnock's Book

I enjoy listening to Podcasts (originally called this because you could put them on an iPod or other MP3 player - you don't need to know what that means to enjoy listening to them, it just meant that you could take the talk with you to listen to away from your computer). You can learn about new things, be exposed to new ideas, listen to others experiences and hear talks that you can't see in person. I like to check out the Cricket and Seagull Fireside Chat Podcasts every week. The topics vary from ancient text symposia to yoga, including music, new books of interest to LDS audiences. Finding new artists, authors or speakers is a fun sidelight of listening to the podcasts. This last week Steven Capp Perry interviewed Caleb Warnock about his new book, "The Forgotten Skills of Self-Sufficency Used by Mormon Pioneers." Direct Link to Podcast Lots of interesting ideas, I look forward to reading the book. Link about the book release on the author's blog.

BYU Women't Conference

Poking around the BYU TV site watching many of the videos of the talks given at the conference I found a list of Virtual Sharing Stations with downloadable handouts.
There are 62 different topics covered, from addiction recovery to preparing for a senior mission.

Lamb of God - by Rob Gardner

Listening to the Cricket and Seagull Fireside podcast just before Easter (while preparing a talk for Easter Sunday Sacrament meeting) I listened to an interview with Rob Gardner about his new musical project called Lamb of God.
The music samples were hauntingly beautiful and the interview piqued my curiousity. I ended up purchasing the album from iTunes.

Lamb of God: a sacred work for choir, orchestra and soloists (a link to the website). It covers the final week of Christ's earthly ministry.

You can listen or download the interview with Steven Kapp Perry of the Cricket and Seagull Fireside Chat here.

You can listen to samples of the music at iTunes here.

Joseph Smith Papers, a look into

This Liahona article by Elder Marlin K. Jensen details the project on bringing the papers of the early church to more people. It is an aid to scholarship and to give members a look into the records of the early church. The plan is ambitious, but the good news for us is that all the information is being provided online.

As described in the article above these papers are being published in bound books, but they are also available online at the Joseph Smith Papers.

You can see the images of the pages that were written with revelations, journal entries, administrative records as well as descriptions and explanations of the details behind them.

Here is a link to browse the papers yourself.

Here is the Nauvoo Relief Society Minute Book detailing their meetings from 17 March 1842 to 16 March 1844.

Ever Wonder What the Relief Society Magazine's Covered?

In doing some research for the Relief Society birthday party I have been finding a treasure trove of online resources now. Brigham Young University has scanned and made available online The Women's Exponent (more on that later) and the Relief Society Magazine.
Here is a report about the Relief Society General Conference.

A Video from BYUtv about the LDS Scriptures

This is a great video about the introduction of the LDS scriptures with the topical guide and all the study references. Here is the video link.
